Welcome from the Chair of Governors, Hannah Henry

Welcome to the Governors’ page of our Havelock Schools website.

We are a Federated Governing Body which means that we have responsibility for both Havelock Infant and Havelock Junior Schools. We first federated in September 2015.  The members of our Governing Body are listed in this section of the website.

Our primary purpose is to ensure the quality of education provision and to act as the accountable body for two schools. We are also part of the Pathfinder Schools group and work closely with the Trust Board in carrying out our work. Trust governance details can be found here

Information on Trust Governance arrangements can be seen on here:

https://www.pathfinderschools.org.uk/about-us/statutory-information

We have a number of key roles in the running of the school. These are to:

  • set the strategic direction, vision and ethos of the school;
  • monitor and challenge the progress of the school in achieving its priorities;
  • recruit and performance manage the headteacher;
  • exercise employer responsibility;
  • ensure that the schools meet their statutory responsibilities;
  • ensure financial probity;
  • ensure the premises are well managed;
  • report to the school’s stakeholders.

 We are proud to have been recognised as an effective governing body by Ofsted but we also strive to continually improve.  Each year we agree a Governors Improvement Plan that sets out key priorities development.  In 2019/2020 these are:

SDP Priority 1: QUALITY OF EDUCATION including INTENT, IMPLEMENTATION AND IMPACT

To ensure the curriculum is clearly defined, progressive in skills, knowledge and vocabulary and enables children to develop as well rounded citizens of the future. Outcomes for all pupils are at least inline with National figures in all subjects.

SDP Priority 2: BEHAVIOUR AND ATTITUDES

To establish a relationships based approach to behaviour that ensures all needs are catered for in an inclusive and respectful learning environment. Attendance rates are improved for all groups of pupils.

SDP Priority 3: PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

To ensure healthy minds and bodies are a central part of the curriculum for all pupils.

SDP Priority 4:  LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT

To make all leaders throughout the school accountable for the delivery of the whole curriculum. To ensure the school is financially viable for the future by continuing to increase pupil numbers.
